Gnome 2.20: Ars technica takes a look

Ars technica has a look at the new Gnome 2.20. In this 5 page review Ryan Paul takes you through the new stuff, the fancy new dialogs and the powerful developer features.
This year is also the tenth anniversary of the Gnome project. Started in 1997, Gnome has powered free desktops around the world. Congratulations!

AMD opens source code and specification for GPU’s

After many rumors it’s finally official! AMD will be releasing the source code to it’s Linux display drivers and will give access to it’s GPU specifications under a Non Disclosure Agreement.
Mark Shuttleworth has also given his opinion about AMD’s decision. Looks like things are clearing up for the open source graphics world

No fasttrack for OOXML but ISO secretary continues to blunder!

The fasttrack procedure for OOXML has been canceled! The total number of members that voted Yes are 53.12%, which is short of the 66.66% requirement.
